The TUNE is a VAT inspired instrument that combines medical-grade vibrations and neural music to balance the nervous system. In 2017, I created a prototype of a TUNE and worked with neural musicians and scientists to create the vibrational sets as well as charting the accessible points in the human body. By mid year the prototype and first track were created, below is the image I took immediately after the first session. Most people call this tune face where after a tune session you appear slightly dazed, happy and lovestruck. After this first session I knew this technology worked and dove into studying and testing it.
First TUNE official TUNE session, on a prototype in my bedroom, NYC, April 2017
Between mid 2017 to mid 2018, I ran 5,000 people through the beta version of the TUNE technology between a dozen conferences and demo locations, from New York’s Lower East Side to South Beach Miami. Our first conference, and first opportunity to see TUNE ‘in the wild’ was with MindBodyGreen; one of my best friends, Camilla Herman managed TUNE sessions with me for 14 hours every day. Witnessing the real-time, positive reactions to the technology, I knew we had something special. The buzz about TUNE spread throughout the conference, which is what ended up getting to the head of hardware at Google. More on that to come.
Revitalize, MindBodyGreen. Arizona, August 2017. Camilla and I got our first tune in at the end of the conference.
My next step was to build out the demo location on the lower east side. As it goes with all start ups, there would be curveballs and this location had many. I ended up building this location by hand with a small team sourced from TaskRabbit. To prove the validity of my business model, we built it out, began testing and ran this space as a public location.
Lower East Side, NYC, late September 2017, building out the beta studio, at 1am.
Due to some interesting requirements in this location, we were only permitted to build between 11pm-5am. After several days of light construction, the entire team and I tuned at 4am, before opening officially later that day at 9am!
4:30am, Lower East Side. Picture taken by one of the crew members. We were all exhausted and slightly high from the TUNE vibrations that used to be much more potent in those early days.
The first day of sessions was an absolute success. Bella Hadid was among our first clients. The space we operated out of was filled with celebrities, which gave us the opportunity to work with clients who had the highest standards. For a tiny and (not great) beta location, we got a lot of buzz and ran close to 1000 people through the tech during those 9 months of testing. Even though I had the scientific data and had proven the frequency ranges at that point, there were still many kinks to work through. The biggest one was that more isn’t always better when it comes to vibration, more on that in a different series of posts.
